The meeting ended at 4:00 p.m.
By 4:15 p.m., the real meeting had begun.
As employees filtered out of the conference room, conversations started immediately.
Jamie walked back to her office trying to make sense of what she had just heard.
The merger was moving forward.
There were duplicated positions.
Her role was one of them.
Months earlier, employees had been assured there would be no changes.
Now everything felt less certain
Jamie hardly slept that night, one question kept raising through her head
“What does this mean for me?”
Years ago, I found myself in a similar situation.
In fact, twice.
And I asked myself the very same question.
The anxiety is real.
I know now that organizational change is not just a business event. It’s a human event.
While leaders discuss structures, systems, and strategy, employees are often trying to understand what the future holds for them and their families.
If you’re currently navigating a merger, restructuring, acquisition, or significant workplace change, know that you’re not alone.
I’ve walked that path.
